The celebrations of the Israel Bar Association's 50th anniversary reached a climax in February 2011.
The main event in honor of the Israel Bar Association's 50th anniversary was held in Jerusalem on February 22nd, 2011.
The event began at a special Knesset session devoted to the Israel Bar Association, which included speeches by Minister of Justice, Prof. Ya'akov Ne'eman; Knesset Member Shelly Yachimovich; Knesset Member Roni Bar-On; Knesset Member Yariv Levin; and Knesset Member Avraham Michaeli.
Following the Knesset session, a festive gala was held at the Jerusalem Center for Performing Arts. Guests included the elite of the Israeli government and justice systems, senior advocates, and leading figures from the media and the academic education system.
At the beginning of the event, the audience watched recorded greetings by Israeli President Shimon Peres and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
During the event, which was hosted by Ms. Dalia Mazor, speeches were made by Knesset Chairman, MK Reuven Rivlin; Supreme Court President, Judge Dorit Beinisch; Minister of Justice, Prof. Ya'akov Ne'eman; President of the Israel Bar Association, Advocate Yori Geiron; Prof. Yirmiyahu Yovel; and journalist Ms. Yael Gvirtz, who launched the Jubilee Book reviewing the history of the Bar Association.
The artistic part of the evening included a performance by the "Efroni" Choir, conducted by Maya Shavit; pantomime skits by Hanoch Rosen; and a performance by the "Hakol Over Habibi" group.
Advocate Yori Geiron, President of the Israel Bar, touched the emotions of the audience when he thanked Advocate Adlay Chomsky, Chairman of the 50th anniversary committee, for his significant contribution to the jubilee events in general and to the festive gala in particular.
